Why is everyone obsessed with Political polls?

Does it really matter if the person you are voting for is ahead or behind?
Would you not vote for them anyway?

For some reason people crave ratings, numbers and statistics.
Politicians run their entire campaigns based on polls instead of what the party stands for. Sad isn’t it.

I agree, it makes no sense til the actual election. I don’t keep up with polls but I do keep up with the candidates because everything I mean EVERYTHING affects them one way or the other. Sadly but true.

Not so much. I have never let a poll make my decision.

Not obsessed but I like to monitor the score on what the nation is thinking. I figure with a large collection of polls averaged out, we might see the truth. I made up my mind on Obama long before I saw any polls.

Well, I always liked the line about George Bush:

"He don’t pay attention to the polls. Just ask his poll takers."

    Cheers!

It is not an obsession it is just fun to see trends in voting. Nobodies mind is ever changed by polls. It is like keeping score in a baseball game it could change in the next ending. I guess it is just a score card for a game that does not in until NOV 4

polls such as the gallup have been very accurate in predicting who the winner will be. it involves statistics and alot of time when compiling such polls. other polls conducted by news channels for example are what’s called a convenience survey. it’s not scientific.
