web polls aren’t valid, nor are any polls that require people to seek out the poller.

Scientific polling collects a random sampling. So you can’t seek out the poll taker.

So many of them always end up neck and neck, or too close to call. I don’t think people are split 50-50 in their opinions as often as the media seems to portray them. I think the media rigs the polls to be 50-50, neck and neck because it is "more exciting" and "suspensful" to have a tight race and it is easier to rig the elections.

You can get polls to say anything you want them to say just by the way they word the question. Or the demographics of where the poll is taken can also skew results.

What do you think should be done to make the "whos winning" overview more realistic?

Maybe they should stop polling and trying to determine who is in front. Wouldn’t it be great if no one knew who was in the lead. People would go and vote for the candidate of their choice and not be afraid it would be a wasted vote because they wouldn’t have a clue. I think that polls help to sway votes. People rarely vote for an underdog.

You may be mixing with people who think the way you do (or the opposite). People’s voting patterns also vary between cities, and between rural and urban areas. Polls are supposed to sample a wide batch to iron out these differences.

***They just did precisely that for the Pennsylvania Presidential Primary. —- The CNN polls predicted Clinton would win the Pennsylvania primary by 9%. Currently with 75% (1.6 million votes cast) Clinton is winning by 9%.

Where could someone get involved in these polls or surveys?

Go to any credible new website, the polls are generally on the news article itself. I did one on health care yesterday from the Washington Post, by clicking on an article about health care.

The bad thing and disingenuous thing about these types of polls, is that you can do it over and over, so it is very difficult to get an accurate picture of the way people feel about an issue.
